REPUBLIC, C. Vibius Varus, (c.42 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, obv. wreathed head of ivy and graped of Bacchus to right, dotted border, rev. panther springing to left towards garlanded altar on which is a thyrsus and mask, C VIBIVS in exergue and VARVS on right, (S.331, Cr.494/36, Syd.1138, Vibia 24). Off centre, punch hole on neck, otherwise nearly extremely fine.
