Syria, Kingdom of, Demetrius II first reign, (145-138 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.710 grams), Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued period 145-138 B.C., obv. diademed head of Demetrius II to right within filleted border, rev. Tyche seated to left with leg of throne a winged monster, holds sceptre and cornucopiae, to right **[B]ASILEWS DHMHTRIOU, to left **FILADELFOU NIKATOROS, in exergue monogram AY, (S.7051 [£400], SNG Israel I (Spaer) 1752, ACNAC houghton 1010, SNG Lockett 3151, BMC 18, [p.50, Pl.XVIII, 2], Babelon Pl.XIX, 3, Spink Numismatic Circular December 1969, 9798 [this coin]). Very rare reverse type, slightly off flan and very slightly double-struck, otherwise good very fine/very fine.
