Syria, Kingdom of, Seleucus I, (312-280 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.734 grams), Marathus mint, Newell Group B, c.301-0 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, Eagle in outstretched hand, A**ST* to left over erased anchor and below throne A, to right **SELEUKOU*, in exergue **BASILEWS, (cf.S.6829, Newell WSM 1246, [p.196, dies A2/P5, pl.XLIV, 8-9]). Nearly very fine and scarce.

Newell knew of 8 examples of this type from this same pair of dies.
