Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.590 grams), issued 143-142 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 111-0 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, Artemis with torch to right, **D on amphora, legend across **A QE, to left FANO KL[HS], APOL LWN IOS, BAK CIO, SF* below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 700b same obverse die, probably Thompson 700b reverse die, Sv.61,7, obverse die). Nearly very fine and rare.
