Italy, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (272-235 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (6.128 grams), obv. naked horseman on prancing horse to right holding lance downwards, shield behind, below **ARI [STO KHLS] in two lines, above to left **DI, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a kantharos and trident, to right a head of nymph to left, **TARA[S] below, (S.375, cf.Vl.879, cf.SNG ANS 1198). Dark tone, nearly very fine.
