Pair: Imperial Service Medal (GVR) first type, star shaped breast badge. National Shipwreck Relief Society of N.S.W. large (44.5mm) silver medal. First medal named engraved 'Alexander McMaster', in damaged case of issue. Second medal engraved in centre of reverse 'Awarded to Alexander McMaster for an act of bravery 10 June 1885'. First medal very fine. Second medal with edge knocks, surface scratches and some scuffing on rim, otherwise very fine.

ISM: L.G. 14 November 1919. Sergeant of Police Second Class Alexander McMaster, N.S.W. Police. Together with copy of newspaper report reporting the wreck of the A.S.N. Steamship 'Cahors' on Evans Reef between Clarence and Richmond Heads N.S.W., 10 June 1885 for which the medal was awarded. Medal presented to recipient 4 December 1885.
