PHILIP I, (A.D. 244-249), silver antoninianius, Rome mint, (4.35 grams), obv. radiate bust to right, around IMP PHILIPPVS AVG, rev. temple of six columns, in centre, statue half left, holding sceptre, around SAECVLVM NOVVM, (S.2574, RIC 25b, RSC 198). Dark grey tone, extremely fine and rare.

Ex William Boyne F.S.A., Collection, sold Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, London, January 21, 1896, (Lot 750 part) with ticket (the lot realised 16/-) and A.H. Baldwins & Sons, November 1952 with tickets.
