Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus II, (261-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.36 grams), Series I, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 261-256 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **BASILEWS and to left **ANTIOXOU, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6886, Newell ESM 180, BMC 12). Old dark tone, very fine/nearly very fine, scarce.

Ex. Spink & Son, London, auction sale March 15, 1984 (lot 369 part). Newell notes a total of 8 tetradrachms of this type in public and private collections.
