Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.84 grams), Series II group A, Bactra mint, issued 268-261 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **BASILEOS and to left **ANTIOXOU, to left under arm a monogram of **L in O, (S.-, Newell ESM 696, McLean 9254 [pl.336,2], Bopearachchi 59, cf.ACNAC Houghton 1289). Dumpy flan and off centred as usual, as fine as all known examples, nearly very fine, very rare.
