Perry Barr, William Booth penny, 1811, wheatsheaf/legend (Davis 90). In beautiful state, blue brown patina, one and very rare, uncirculated of the finest known.
Ex Spink Sale 28 (lot 143). (William Booth (1776-1812) was a notorious forger of coins and banknotes who was hanged at Stafford in 1812 for his crimes and who it is believed issued this token as a cover for his other activities. (Seaby C & M Bulletin p.285 et seq has a good account).
