Description
Bilston, James Atherton's penny, 1813, beehive/three cannon balls (Davis 32); Edward Beebee's pennies, 1811 and 1812 John of Gaunt/horseman at speed (Davis 33, 35); S. Fereday's pennies, 1811, view of iron furnaces and engine house/legend (Davis 37,38,39,40) legend both sides, 1812 (Davis 43) halfpenny 1812 similar (Davis 72); Rushbury & Woolley's pennies, 1811 bare headed bust of George III right/Royal Exchange building (Davis 55, 57,59,60,62, 67,71). The first two only fine otherwise very fine-nearly uncirculated, several with original mint red colour (16).
Davis 35,55 ex S.V. Hagley Collection, 37,39,57,59,60,62, from Spink in 1973 (4), 1975 (2 - Davis 37,60) 38,71 ex P. Deane Collection, 40 from Dolphin Coins in 1987, 43 from Seaby in 1973, 72 from R. Gladdle in 1988, others acquired in 1960's.
