Italy, Lucania, Heraclea, (330-280 B.C.), silver stater, (7.73 grams), obv. head of Athena to right wearing laureate crested Corinthian helmet, PHA monogram behind helmet, rev. Heracles standing facing, hand to head, holding club, lion's skin, cornucopiae to left, to right I-HPAK**LHIWN, to left **ARCILS, (cf.S.391; SNG Ash. 632 [similar dies]). Weakly struck on legend and body of Heracles, brilliant, otherwise good very fine and a very rare type.
