Justin II, (A.D.565-578), gold solidus, Alexandria mint, (4.51 grams), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justin II facing, without beard, holding shield and globe surmounted by Victory, D N I VSTI NVS PP AVI around, rev. VICTORI A AVCCCI, around, CONOB in exergue, cross in left field, Constantinopolis seated facing head right, holding spear and cross on globe, (S.347 [Ã…â€Å‣1200 EF], DOC 6, BMC 16, R.759). Slightly off centred on the reverse, nearly extremely fine with some mint blooming and a very rare branch mint issue.

The cross in the reverse field has been attributed to Alexandria mint by Hahn and Morrisson in the Bibliotheque Nationale.
