Lane Brothers, Bank of Good Value, West Maitland, New South Wales, Discount note, issued at Cheapside West Maitland, one shilling coupon as a discount for every one pound worth of goods purchased by bearer, dated 1893 (sic, from shilling dated 1893 but error type for this date), no watermark, stating on front `On Demand, we promise to accept one of these coupons as One Shilling for every £1 worth of Goods purchased by Bearer for cash at our establishment', signed Lane Brothers, green on white with brown band/ brown and green on white. Many pinholes, a few creases, otherwise nearly very fine and very rare, and possibly unique.

Ex. Spink Australia Sale 1 (lot 260, part). The issuer on the back of the note is described as a Wholesale and Retail Drapers, Clothiers and Gentlemen's Mercer, of High Street, West Maitland.
