(Australia), Hillgrove, fob medal, handcrafted in gold (9ct, 7.6g, 40x29mm), by W.Kerr (Sydney), ring top and pin-back suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented By/The Citizens of/Hillgrove/to the next of kin of/Pte.R.Mortimer/Who Fell/on Active Service/1914-1918'. Very fine.
32031 Rflm Richard Mortimer, 13th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion, E Company, NZRB, embarked from New Zealand 15 November 1915. Died of Wounds, France, 15 June 1917.
Richard Mortimer was the son of Thomas and Margaret Mortimer, of Hillgrove, New South Wales, Australia.
