MC: LG: 01Feb1919, 'During the attack of Mt St Quentin, near Peronne, on the 2nd of September 1918 this Officer was in charge of a Brigade Forward Signal party. He reconnoitered forward under heavy shell fire and selected a good position for his station, and while it was being established worked hard and bravely in repairing lines in heavily shelled areas where he would not order his men to go. The front line situation at this time was very obscure owing to the difficult nature of the operations, but this Officer located all units in the line by personnel reconnaisance at very great personal risk, displaying wonderful energy and determination in getting them in touch by telephone. It was due to the untiring efforts of this Officer in the face of enemy gun-fire of the heaviest nature, his coolness, personal bravery and control, that the communication of this Brigade to its Battalions was maintained through the operations'.
