Lycia, Dynasts of, Uteveres, (c.460-440 B.C.), silver stater (8.27 g), obv. forepart of a boar left, rev. diskeles with a small appendage protruding from side, Lycian characters around all within an incuse square dotted border, (S.-, Traite 175, pl.93, 13, Babelon, Les Perses, 467, pl. 12, 6, Falgera 403, SNG Cop. Sup. 100, SNG von Aulock 8482). Good very fine with moderate obverse porosity, overstruck on an earlier Lycian stater, but not readily identifiable, very rare.
Ex CNG Mail bid Sale 60, May 22, 2002 (lot 832) with CNG Ticket. A similar example slightly better without overstrike in NAC Auction 126 (lot 249) realised 7000 Sfr.
