Apulia, Barium, (c. 180-160 BC), AE sextans (6.38 g), obv. laureate head of Zeus facing right, two stars (mark of value) behind, rev. Eros facing right, shooting bow from prow, dolphin below, (S.575, HCG 553, SNG ANS 652). Brown tone with chocolate highlights, slight doubling on obverse, very fine and very rare.

Barium was a minor port on the Adriatic coast, that struck coinage on the Roman uncial standard, probably in connection with building and manning the fleet in the early second century BC.
