Description

Indonesia, Siak Sultanate, Sultan Zainal Abidin Muadzam Shah (1745-64), Batu Bahara, (AH 1158, 1745 AD), 1, 1/2, and 1/4 tin pitis (1.96g, 0.90g, 0.44g) (see JONS 252, figure 2, p. 13 for discussion on this type). Very fine; fine; fine. (3)

Batubahara was officialy under the Siak Sultanate in the 18th century, however the existence of coins bearing the name of the Sultan Zainal Abidin Muadzam Shah suggests they may have operated as an independent sultanate city state under the wider Siak Kingdom.
