Probus, (A.D. 276-282), base silver antoninianus, Rome Mint (4.60 g), issued in 277, obv. radiate bust to left of Probus cuirassed, wearing imperial mantle and holding eagle tipped sceptre, around IMP PROB VS P F AVG, rev. Sol in galloping quadriga left, holding globe and whip, around SOLI I NVICT O, R**G* thunderbolt between in exergue, (cf.S.12038, cf.RIC 202); another similar Siscia mint, (3.82 g), obv. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG, bust as above, rev. as above with XXIV in exergue, (S.12043, RIC 774 [Bust type H, var. PF AVG?]). Both very fine or better, scarce. (2)
