Convict love token, a shaved down English penny, obverse stipple engraved, 'Willi/am Fost/er When/This You/See Rem/ember/Me', reverse stipple engraved, 'When/I Am Far/A Way/From Thee/May 3/1836'. Fine.
There were two convict boys named William Foster. The first, aged 13, was convicted for housebreaking on 7 March 1836 and transported to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Royal Sovereign' in August 1836. The other, aged 16, was convicted on 4 April 1836 for stealing fowls and transported to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Royal Sovereign' in July 1836.
