Constantine IV Polgonatus, (A.D. 668-685), gold semissis, Constantinople mint, Officina S, (2.03 g), struck 669-674, obv. pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust to right, around d E CONTA TINIS PP, rev. cross potent on globe, around VICTORIA AVGUS, (S.1161, DOC 16 var. [obv. legend], MIB 15c). Choice uncirculated and very rare in this condition, one of the finest examples known for this type.
Slabbed by NGC as strike 5/5, surface 2/5, flan slightly clipped.
