Sasanian King, Ardaxsir (Ardashir) III, (A.D. 628-630), silver drachm, (4.16 g), mint of ART (Gor), Regal year 2, obv. text in Pahlavi, bust right, mural crown with frontal crescent and korymbos set on a crescent, ribbon on left shoulder, crescent on right shoulder, star and crescent flanking crown, star and crescents on three sides of outer ring, rev. fire altar flanked by two attendants, star and crescent to left and right flanking flames, four stars and crescents evenly around outer ring, (Sellwood 69, cf.Karlsson D178, Gobl type I/1, illustration 225, Sunrise 993). Bright, nearly extremely fine, scarce.
