Thrace, Islands off, Thrace, Thasos, (c.525-515 B.C.), silver stater, (9.54 g), obv. naked ithyphallic Satyr (archaic style) in a kneeling running attitude carrying off protesting nymph, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (S.1357 [?400], Asyut Hoard probably 114 [not illustrated], Le Rider Weber 2500, cf.CNG 105, [lot 50] [very similar dies realised $2750], SNG Lockett 1213, Le Rider Thasiennes 1; HGC 6, 331). Very fine, dumpy flan, with good facial detail, test cut across obverse, very rare first issue from Thasos.

Asyut hoard suggests the chronology to be before 510-480 B.C.
