Caracalla, (A.D. 198-217), silver denarius, issued 215, Rome mint, (3.15 g), obv. laureate head to right of Caracalla, around ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM, rev. Pax standing left, holding olive branch and spear, around P M TR P XVIII COS IIII PP, (S.6841, RIC 268, RSC 314) (illustrated); another, (3.51 g), rev. Sol standing naked holding orb and spear, (S.6857, RIC 30a, RSC 413); another, (3.34 g), rev. Virtus seated to left, holding Victory and parazonium, resting left, elbow on oval shield, (S.6905, RIC 176, RSC 672); another, (3.82 g), rev. Serapis standing to left wearing modius, right hand raised holding transverse sceptre, (cf.S.6829, RIC 193-4, RSC 195); another, (3.23 g), rev. Aesculapius standing facing, holding serpent-entwined wand, globe on ground, (S.6834, RIC 251, RSC 302). Toning, nearly very fine - nearly extremely fine, some scarce. (5)
