Hadrian, (A.D. 117-138), silver denarius, issued 118, Rome mint, (2.85 g), obv. laureate head to right of Hadrian, around IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, rev. Mars, naked except for cloak around waist, advancing right, holding spear and trophy, around P M TR P COS III, (S.3516, BMC 112, RIC 67, C.1073) (illustrated); another, (2.63 g), rev. SALVS AVG in exergue, Salus seated to left on throne feeding serpent arising from altar, (cf.S.3539, RIC 137a, RSC 1324); another, (2.50 g), rev. COS III around, Libertas standing to left, holding pileus and rod, (S.3477, RIC 175, BMC 402, RSC 374a); another, (3.12 g), rev. Roma standing left holding Victory and spear, (S.3471, RIC 161, RSC 349). Toned, fine - nearly very fine. (4).
