Nerva, Divus Augustus, Restoration issue by Nerva in honour of Divus Augustus, (died A.D. 14), AE sestertius, struck under Nerva, Rome mint, issued 96 A.D., (23.04 g), obv. laureate head of Augustus to right, around DIVVS AVGVSTVS, rev. IMP NERVA [CAESAR AVGVS]TVS REST, around large SC, (S.3076, RIC 136, C.370 [Augustus], BMC 149). Brown patina, fine/ very good and rare.

This portrait type has no prototype, but restores simply the memory of Rome's first emperor [Sear].
