Egypt, Alexandria, Antinous, (A.D. d.130), issue in honour of the deceased Antinous, favourite of Hadrian, AE drachm, uncertain regnal year of Hadrian, (c.A.D. 135-137), (18.04 g), obv. Antinous draped bust to left wearing hem-hem crown, traces of legend around, rev. Antinous as Hermes on horseback to right, holding caduceus, uncertain date below, (S.1337, Datt. 2089, cf. K&G-34a.4-5). Light brown toning, some verdigris, very good - fine and very rare.

This historically important coin indicates that Antinous was regarded as a deity or hero on some provincial coins after his death in 130 A.D.
