Sicily, Syracuse, Second Democracy, (c.466-405 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.17 g), struck c.450 B.C., obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer holding reins in both hands and a kentron, Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **[SU*R**AKOS*ION] to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, wearing necklace and earrings, four dolphins clockwise around, (cf.S.925, Boehringer 527, obverse 273/reverse 370], SNG Lockett 933, cf.Jameson 768, cf.SNG ANS 173). Light toning, extensive surface pitting, nearly fine and rare.
