Pair: Indian General Service Medal 1854-95, - clasp - Persia; Indian Mutiny Medal 1857-58. P.Gallagher, 64th Foot. on first medal, Patk Gallagher, 64th Regt on second medal. Both medals impressed. Contact marks, otherwise good fine.

Patrick Gallagher, labourer, age 18, born near the town of Stokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland; attested for 64th Regt of Foot at Roscommon 19Aug1840; served for 21 years including 11 years and 11 months in India; served throughout the Persian Campaign of 1856-57 and also in suppressing the Bengal Mutiny of 1857-58; tried by court martial twice and entered in Regimental Defaulters Book three times; also recorded for Good Conduct three times; promoted to Sergeant but reduced to Private after court martial; promoted to Corporal but again reduced to Private after court martial; finally discharged as Corporal 10Dec1861.
