Group of Five to Homicide Detective: War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Queen's Police Medal for Distinguished Service; Jubilee Medal 1977; Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (EIIR no Br.Omn type A). VX142529 H.Morrison on first two medals, Harry Morrison on third and fifth medals, fourth medal unnamed as issued. The first three medals impressed, the fifth medal engraved. The last three medals with brooch bar suspenders and in boxes of issue, uncirculated, the first two with contact marks otherwise very fine.

Together with Royal Life Saving Society Bronze Cross, reverse inscribed, 'H.Morrison/1947'.

Harry Morrison, born 01Jun1922 at Belfast, Northern Ireland; Enl.07Jul1943 at Mingenew, WA; Disch.14Sep1945 as Trooper ex 101 Motor Regt.



Harry Morrison joined the Victorian Police Force and worked on many serious cases. In 1954 he was a detective with Footscray CIB and by 1966 he was a senior detective with the Homicide Squad. In February 1966 he was one of four Victorian detectives tasked with escorting by charter flight from Sydney to Melbourne, the Pentridge Gaol escapee Ronald Ryan, the last man to be executed in Australia, hanged in 1967. Senior Detective Harry Morrison was also a key witness at the Coronial Inquiry into the death of Warder George Hodson, who was killed by Ryan when he escaped from Pentridge.
