Ernest Theodore Bartleet, born 09Sep1880 at Semaphore, Sth Aust was a Purser on S.S.Warilda, which was used as a troopship and hospital ship during WWI. The Warilda was sunk by torpedo in the English Channel on the night of 03Aug1918 for the loss of 123 lives including 15 Australians.



Ernest Jack McGregor Bartleet, architect, born31Dec1904 at Semaphore, Sth Aust, the only child of E.T.Bartleet; educated at St Peter's College; Enl.19Jun1940 at Paddington, Sydney, NSW; relinquished Group 1 (Draughtsman) 20May1942 and graded Group II (Intelligence Duties) 21May1942; relinquished Group II (Intelligence Duties) 01May1943; to Aust Field Security Section 29Jan1945; Disch.12Sep1945 as Sergeant ex 2/1 Corps Field Survey Coy; died 18Jan1970 Fennell Bay, Lake Macquarie, NSW.
