Trio to KIA at Gallipoli: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 803 Pte F.Allison 18/BN A.I.F. on first medal, 803 Pte. F.Allison 18-BN. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Very fine.
Together with Memorial Plaque named to Frederick Allison. Plaque lacquered and two mount marks removed from reverse, otherwise good very fine.
Frederick Allison, hospital attendant, age 23, born at Great Norton, Bradford, Yorkshire, England; Enl.08Feb1915 at Liverpool, NSW; Emb.25Jun1915; to Gallipoli 16Aug1915; MIA 21&25Aug1915; Court of Inquiry 21Jan1916 held at Tel el Kebir finding - Reasonable to suppose dead (cabled KIA); witness statement, Pte Jaggard 894, 26 Gen, Etaples, 9th May 1916 advised, 'He joined the same day as I did, we lived in the same tent and were great friends. He came from Bradford in Yorkshire, and went by the name of Yorky. I saw him alive and well in the trench which we captured in the early morning. The Captain sent him with a message to the Gurkha trench, where the Colonel was. The distance was about 300 yards but it was swept by fire and we lost hundreds of men there. He was never heard of again. I wrote to his people but got no reply.'; all medals and Memorial Plaque were forwarded to Pte Allison's parents at Lidget Green, Bradford, Yorkshire, England.
