Eric Leslie Dunkerley, mercer & clothier, age 26, born at Uralla, NSW; Enl.20Oct1917 at Tamworth, NSW; Emb.08May1918; at Fovant 11Sep1918 charged with conduct prejudice of good order and military discipline in that when ordered by his superior Officer to be quiet and go to bed, used obscene language and failed to do so - awarded 28 days forfeiture of pay; AWL 13Oct1918 at Fovant; medical history states that he had VD in Sydney and was treated at Milson Island and then VD contracted at Manchester and hospitalised 11-23Jan1919 and again 8Feb1919; further AWL charges with sentences of 6 months and then 14 days; RTA 01Aug1919 and en route admitted to ship's hospital for 11 days suffering VD; Disch.07Oct1919.
Horace Albert Victor Newton, carter, age 21, born at Petersham, Sydney, NSW; Enl.28Apr1916 at Sydney Sports Ground, NSW; Emb.09Sep1916; AWL 21-24Nov1916 at Fovant, awarded 96 hours detention; AWL 13-19Apr1917, awarded 28 days forfeited pay; 28May1917 charged with desertion, court martial held at Rubempre and found guilty and sentences to 5 years penal servitude commuted to 2 years hard labour in No 4 Military Prison at Abancourt, France; to hospital sick 19Jan1918; to No 1 Military Prison at Rouen, France from hospital; balance of sentence suspended from 13Sep1918 and rejoined unit on 15Sep1918; RTA 19Jun1919; Disch.22Sep1919; reported by letter dated 26Apr1965 that both service medals lost; medals replaced on 12May1965.
