Description
Group of Five: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19 with MID; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45. 2.Lieut. J.P.H.Hayes. R.Ir.Fus. on first medal, Lieut. J.P.H.Hayes. on second and third medals, last two medals unnamed as issued. Named medals impressed. First three medals swing mounted, good very fine, last two with box of issue, uncirculated.
Together with a school cap in orange velvet with embroidered crest of Bishop Gore School in Swansea, Wales and on the maroon brim in orange C.1912 (class of 1912). The cap is in excellent condition.
MID: Sixth Supplement to LG of 18/12/1917, published 21/12/1917, being a continuation of Sir Douglas Haig's Despatch of 07Nov1917 - to Lt (acting Capt) J.P.Hayes.
Note: Bishop Gore School has had many eminent students but perhaps the best known is Dylan Thomas, author, poet and playwright.
