MID: Supplement to LG 28/1/1916, p1202 to 2410 Corporal F.White.
Private Frank White entered the Balkan theatre of war on 6 May 1915. In an attack by 1/7 Bn at Krithia Nulla, Gallipoli on 7 August 1915, the unit was to advance out of a narrow nullah upon which Turkish machine guns were trained. As the men emerged from the trenches after an artillery bombardment they were annihilated with none able to get more than twenty yards up the nullah, except for the now Corporal White and a few others of C Coy who got through and remained under cover firing at the Turks until nightfall at which time they were able to return to their lines. Corporal White's heroism is outlined in the above citation. He was demobilized on 22 April 1919.
