Group of Six: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 2 reverse), - clasp - Talana; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Coronation Medal 1902; Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVR). 5426 Sgt E.Walton, Rl. Dublin Fus. on first medal, 13517. S.Mjr. E.Walton. R.Dub.Fus. on second medal, 13517 W.O.Cl.1 E.Walton. R.D.Fus. on third and fourth medals, fifth medal unnamed as issued, 5426 C.Sjt. E.Walton R:Dub:Fus. on last medal. All named medals impressed. Swing mounted, first medal with edge nick and some contact marks, otherwise good fine - good very fine.

Edward Walton, gardener, age 18, born in County Kent; joined Royal West Surrey Regt 02Jun1891; to Cpl 31Jan1895; Trf'd to Royal Dublin Fusiliers 31May1895; Injured on Duty - Court of Inquiry held at Maritzburg (Pietermaritzburg), Natal after Cpl Walton was injured on 02Feb1898 when at riding school. He mounted a horse which bolted and fell. When the horse was getting up he stood on Walton's right side injuring him.; to Sgt 22Feb1899; WIA 20Oct1899 at Talana; Re-Enl.22Jun1903; Injured off Duty - Court of Inquiry held at Ahmednagar, State of Maharashtra, India after Sgt Walton was injured on 22Feb1910. He was riding a bicycle through the Regt's Lines and was distracted by someone calling his name. His bike skidded and he fell into a drain striking his head and shoulder knocking him unconscious.; Disch.01Jun1912 at Gosport, England; he served at various times in Malta, India, South Africa, Egypt and Soudan; LS&GC Medal Army Order 280 of 1911; WWI: Enl.11Sep1914 at age of 41 for service with R Dublin Fus.
