Ancient British, North Thames Region, Tasciovanos, Inscribed coins, Tasciovanos Muzzles type, (c.25 B.C.-10 A.D.), silver unit, (1.07 g), obv. bearded head to left, beaded crescents of hair, beaded border, rev. bare-chested warrior on horse to right, beaded flower in front and behind, TASCIA around, (S.230, ABC 2610, Van A 1745, NT 7, BMC 1667-68, M 158). Lightly toned, large flan, magnificent head and full TASCIA on reverse, extremely fine and very rare, one of the finest known.

Chris Rudd notes that this is one of the most imposing heads on an Ancient British coin and could be a portrait of Tasciovanos himself. The head on this piece inspired a silver coin of the Iceni, (ABC 1552).
