Ancient British, North Thames Region, Trinovantes, Uninscribed coins, Clacton Dragon type, (c.60-50 B.C.), gold quarter stater, (1.44 g), obv. three men in a boat motif, rev. central bar with appendages forming 'dragonesque' motif, (S.-, ABC 2353, Van A -, NT 4-5, BMC -, M -). Attractive yellow gold, bold striking, nearly extremely fine and excessively rare.

This coin was originally miscatalogued as the Clacton Cross type (ABC 2356), but in fact it is the excessively rare Clacton Dragon type (ABC 2353).
This is only the second example recorded, the other being the ABC plate coin (Rudd, list 105, #37).
