Ancient British, North Eastern Region, Uninscribed coins, Corieltavi, Proto Boar with spear, Rich type 2, (c.55-45 B.C.), silver unit, (1.42 g), obv. boar to right, 'spear' in shoulder, pelletal sun above, 'swastika' ornament above head, beaded border, rev. horse to left, tiny s-shaped mane, beaded ring above, ringed pellet above, (S.396, ABC 1779, Van A 855-3, NE 5-6, BMC 3201, M 405a). Lightly toned, large flan, huge pelletal sun, good very fine and scarce.

The obverse is apparently derived from the speared-boar denarius of C.Hosidius C.f.Geta of 68 B.C.
