Ancient British, North Eastern Region, Uninscribed coins, Corieltavi, Domino type, (c.60-50 B.C.), gold stater, (5.26 g), obv. wreath and crescents, rev. lunate horse to left with large triangular head, domino box above containing four pellets, four-armed clockwise spiral below, (S.393, ABC 1758, Van A 829-1, NE 6-7, BMC 3185, M 448, CCI 04.0966 [this coin]). Rose gold, clear spiral and domino box, nearly extremely fine and an extremely rare variety.

An extremely rare variety - only six others are recorded with a clockwise spiral under the horse.

This spectacular Domino stater comes from the important Beverley treasure hoard found by Alec Thompson.
