Ancient British, Southern Region, Uninscribed coins, Regini, Selsey Diadem type, (c.50-25 B.C.), gold quarter stater, (1.34 g), obv. diademed female head to left, S-shaped motifs in front, beaded border, rev. horse to left, short dashes for mane, small animal on rump, wheel below, quatrefoil in front, (S.49, ABC 551, Van A 78, SO 5-6, BMC 572-75, M 79). Bright gold, bold ornamented head showing both reverse S shapes, good very fine or better and extremely rare.

Found near Chichester, West Sussex, May 2009. This extremely rare quarter stater is known from only eight examples, with five in the British Museum. This is the only piece that clearly shows the two reversed S motifs.
