Ancient British, South of Thames, Uninscribed coins, Bognor Cogwheel type, (c.55-45 B.C.), gold quarter stater, (1.36 g), obv. wreath motif with hidden face, rev. triple tailed horse to right, ringed pellet protruding from neck, floral sun above, cogwheel and ringed pellet below, (S.48, ABC 509, Van A 226/228, ST 5-6, BMC 524-35, M 63, CCI 08.9173 [this coin]). Attractive flan of high grade gold, bold cogwheel and ringed pellet below the horse, brilliant extremely fine.

It is unusual to have the ringed pellet below the horse in full view. Chris Rudd notes that this is one of the finest specimens he has handled.
