Ancient Britain, Gallic War imports, (c.56-55 B.C.), Ambiani, uniface crescent arcs type gold stater (6.08 g), obv. plain, rev. M-shaped Celtic horse right, standing on cabled exergual line, pellet triad, pellets and charioteer's arms above, pellet and crescent below, oval shape behind, crescent and dots in exergue, beaded border. (S.11, Sills class 3b, ABC 16, GB 5, Van A 54). Light toning, deep test cut across the obverse and light test mark on the edge, otherwise extremely fine with impressive detail on the reverse, particularly showing details under the exergual line.

It is very unusual to have a uniface stater with a test cut of this type. The authenticity and provenance of this piece has been established by John Sills.
