Marcus Aurelius, in honour of Divus Lucius Verus, (A.D. 161-169), silver denarius, issued 169, Rome mint, (2.82 g), obv. DIVVS VERVS, bare head to right, rev. pyramidal crematorium of four storeys, garlanded base, the door on second level, the apex surmounted by emperor in quadriga facing, around CONSECRATIO, (S.5206, BMC 505, RIC 596b, RSC 58). Toned, good very fine or better and scarce.

The edifice depicted on the reverse is either the crematorium of Antoninus Pius or that built by Marcus Aurelius. Both structures were situated in the Campus Martius.
