Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c.280 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.28 g), obv. head of Athena to left wearing crested Athenian helmet ornamented with Pegasus, palmette on neck guard, traces of linear square behind rev. lion pulling down stag to left, (cf.S.461, Williams 561, [obv.281, rev.394], SNG Ash 1404). Lightly toned, slight flan flaw on cheek, otherwise nearly very fine.
