Together with ID disc in aluminium, one side with Australian arms and the other side inscribed, '4158/D.C.McLaren/24th Battn/A.I.F./Pres'.
David Crystal McLaren, tram gripman, age 28, born at Glasgow, Scotland; Enl.16Mar1905 for Mechanical Transport at Johannesburg; Disch.27May1905; then enlisted in Natal Militia and Disch.18Aug1906 at Johannesburg ex Natal Rangers after 95 days service; Enl.04Nov1915 in AIF at Melbourne, Victoria; Emb.07Mar1916 for Middle East; late Juul1916 joined 24Bn near Amiens for ops in France and Flanders; WIA 15Nov1916 France, GSW right hand and leg requiring amputation of leg; RTA 10Sep1917; Disch.14Dec1917 as Medically Unfit; Died at Brighton, Victoria in 1939.
