Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.48 g), Temnos mint, issued before 188-170 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with no border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, amphora between arching vine in left field, **HDI and **SW* in left field, to right **ALEXANDROU*. (cf.S.6713, Price 1688. BMC 1688a-b, M.959). Well centred, toned, good very fine and an extremely rare issue.
