Description

(Edward VIII), Royal Mint pattern shilling, 1937, obverse tooled out owing to the abdication of Edward VIII (5.43g). Hairline from sheep's horn to near rim, contact mark on sheep above S of shilling, nearly FDC and extremely rare.

There are patterns in the National Coin Collection at the Mint in Canberra with the adopted obverse of George VI, these came from Treasury. There are no known two sided patterns in private hands.
