New Zealand. Group of Six: Military Cross (GVR); Military Medal (GVR); British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal; British War Medal 1939-45; New Zealand War Service Medal. Second Lieut Frederick Harold Mintroom NZMGC. M.C. and last two medals unnamed others impressed. Court mounted for display. Very fine. $ Together with extract from official history describing the award of the military medal, brief service details showing promotion to Major in 1940. A rare group only thirteen MC/MM combinations to New Zealanders during the first World War. M.C.L.G. 2 April 1919: 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative east of Le Quesnoy on 4 November 1918. He commanded a section of machine guns attached to an assaulting battalion of infantry and led forward two guns with the leading waves of the right leading company in the attack. By engaging strong enemy opposition he assisted the advance of infantry and he took up a well chosen position on the objective gained.' M.M. L.G. 14 December 1917.
